About Me

Spanish to English Translator and Interpreter

I am a Spanish to English translator, proof-reader and posteditor with 15+ years’
experience. I am a full member of ASETRAD, the Spanish Association of Translators, Copy-editors and Interpreters and of Mediterranean Editors and Translators (MET), an association for editors, translators and other language professionals who have English as a primary working language.

Qualifications

  • I am currently undertaking a Masters in Translation and Translation Technologies at the UOC in Barcelona and also hold a Diploma in Translation: Business and Law (Spanish to English) from the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
  • I hold a BA Honours Degree in History 2:1 from the University of Bristol in the UK, and a Certificate in Teaching
    English as a Foreign Language (CTEFLA) taken at International House, London, UK. 

Experience

  • Detail-oriented and focused
    on outcomes for my clients,  I have a strong interest in maritime-related
    translation, the blue economy, and the world of sustainable fashion and design.
    I have worked extensively in insurance and reinsurance, commercial, retail and
    web including large volume and confidential jobs. Transcriptions and subtitle
    translation is also a possibility.

A Bit More About Me

  • Brought up in a vibrant Spanish-English
    bilingual environment in London and surrounded by the diverse perspectives and
    languages of an international community, I developed a profound appreciation
    for the nuances of communication and the power of language to bridge
    divides. I decided early on to work with language by teaching, translating and
    interpreting.
  • My degree in History furthered my understanding of international
    trends, systems and global communicative needs, and I came to see professional
    translation and interpreting as a powerful tool to foster understanding and
    forge connections across borders.
  • On a personal level, I believe in the power of virtual communities to
    promote transparent, ethical and collaborative working practices within the
    industry. I aspire one day to become a B Corp certified organisation.
